Book AppointmentA Neurologist by profession and a humanitarian by heart, Dr. Om Prakash Prasad has been tirelessly serving the society for the past 15 years. With credentials including Doctorate of Medicine (Neurology), and Doctor of Medicine (MD), he has proven to be a capable leader and change agent from his native years. He has relentlessly puthis much coveted abilities in people leadership to drive the greater social good, by treating rural and downtrodden patient’s pro-bono, even travelling to some of the remotest parts of the country without any help.
Dr Prasad presently runs his own neurology clinic, Sri Sri Neuro Centre, Warangal, Telangana. Alongside this, he works as the Consultant Neurologist at Rohini Hospital, Warangal. He specializes in treating patients with Headache, Vertigo, Epilepsy, Movement disorders, Stroke, Nerve & Muscle disorders. With a single-minded focus on helping patients with Virtigo, he participated in “Vertigo Management” Workshop at Kolkata, and strengthened his skills to serve his patients to the best of his capacities.
Years of Working Experience in this field
His feats in community service date back to the initial days of his career. Since the last 11 years, he has been treating neurological disorders of people across the rural & urban areas of Warangal. He not only treats patients at the hospital, but also visits rural areas regularly to treat those who do not have the means to reach the city. He is available to his patients round the clock; there have been several instances where he has reached distant areas at midnight to provide the required treatment to his patients.
Dr. Prasad ensures best possible treatment and speedy recovery of his patients by taking care of their medicinal needs as well. Medicines for treating neurological diseases aren’t available everywhere, especially in the rural areas, consequently causing delays in treatment for patients. To solve this problem, he started a doorstep medicine delivery service for his patients. This initiative has been crucial in saving lives of hundreds of people in and around Warangal.
His approach to serving humanity is not restricted to treating patients, but also uplifting them, creating awareness, helping them overcome the taboo associated with neurological disorders, and develops lost cognitive abilities. Every year, he organises awareness programs on epilepsy, stroke & migraine. In addition, Dr.Prasad has arranged several drawing competitions for epileptic children at his clinic. To support those affected by leprosy, he donated a bore well to leprosy colony, and distributed ration and fruit to the colony’s residents.
Determined to help people as much as possible, Dr. Prasad sponsored the development of a science lab to A.B.M Govt. High School, Warangal in the year 2018, and building of a toilet at Government High School, Warangal in the year 2017. To offer his support to the families of corona warriors (Doctors and police officers) who have lost their lives while serving for the nation, he donated Rs.10000 to each family associated with Nathan's Learning Forum & IMA Warangal.
Apart from these social service pursuits, he has contributed to seven research projects, and participated in 8 international conferences as well as 6 national conferences related to neurology and medicine. He is a member of international and national organizations including American Association of Neurology, Indian Academy of Neurology, Indian Epilepsy Association, and the International Headache Society. He is a lifetime member of Telangana Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association.
Dr. Prasad’s efforts have been largely successful in helping patients recovered from neurological diseases like epilepsy, migraine, movement disorders, nerve & muscle disorders, stroke, and after effects of stroke. Till date, he has organized several campaigns which has helped thousands of people with fighting stereotypes and seek medical health care. Over the last 5 years, he managed to collect over than 250 units of blood for the MGM Medical College blood bank. Over the last 15 years, he has treated patients at Athmakur, Nadikuda, Parkal, Kamalapur, Bheemadevarapalli, Dharmasagar, Velair, Hasanparthy, and Inavolu villages and most people's have seen improvement in health conditions.
Every year around 3000 stroke patients get free treatment through Arogya Shri (Under Telangana Government scheme) as well as follow-up treatment. Apart from these, he has improved the life of a girl child, Shankari Shankar, whom he adopted during his association with SOS children’s village. Further, a range of activities including donations at schools, old age homes, and leprosy affected areas have led him to lead better lives.
Dr Prasad has organized and participated in various activities to support good health, education, community development and much more. As medical practitioner, he understands the importance of activities like blood donation and awareness on chronic disorders. He arranges a yearly blood donation camp every year with MGM medical college blood bank. Through this initiative, the blood bank at MGM Medical College gets approximately 50 units of blood every year. He also organized an AIDS awareness program with PCR production in 2012, and arranged free health camps in association with IMA and other local bodies.
Notably, he donated sports material to a government school in Wadepally in the year 2014. Since the last few years, he organizes a plantation drive and plants around 100 tress annually, distributes books, notebooks, stationary items, furniture’s, light’s, fan’s, etc to government school, and provides free food and ration to old age homes. Additionally, he sponsored refrigerators and beds, building of a bathroom at an old age home named “Amma” in the year 2019.
